well, I guess I didn't realize there were so many experts
on Alabama Football here besides myself and DD Alabama has done nothing wrong They simply are after the best coach they can find as would all the top programs be in a head coaching search we went after guy who is highly regarded in the coaching community and he kind of left us at the altar and changed his mind but how does that give the media & fans of other programs the right to rip our program for trying to make a good hire? we gave the guy an excellent opportunity~ more than doubling his current salary, top-notch facilities, and a chance to compete at college football's highest level how are we wrong in doing this? because he said no? I say we keep aiming high, if not higher or at least higher in the quality of the individual Last edited by BellamyRd. : 12-08-2006 at 10:13 PM. |

I think spending more than one week or so would be a good start, Maybe compiling a good list, and making quiet inquiries rather than put coaches still coaching on the spot now before bowl games. Its half assed dude, half assed and half baked. The notion that guys still coaching pro and college teams are just gonna drop what they are doing and come running because its bama. I'm saying, they are going about this the wrong way, and I think by the results they are having thats its obvious. |

RR was highly recommended to Bama by Homer Smith. if Homer Smith tells you to go get someone then i think you take that recommendation.

and then make tired old racist comments which do not ring true anymore if the Tide job isn't so important, why are we talking about it why is it a top national sports media story over other openings:Miami, NC State, BC, etc.? and upcoming bowl games? the have-nots will always be intimidated by the haves, and talk about what they are doing |

Bama's job is certainly more important than NC St and BC!!!!!! I don't think you get what I'm saying here, I never said it wasn't still a prestigious job, I just said it wasn't at the VERY top. I wonder why a guy named Rodriguez didn't wanna go there? ![]() |

i have a hard time believing saban would be interested. had he wanted to be in college bowl, he'd have stayed at lsu. he's turning miami around, they're showing good signs these days.
alabama is one of the better programs in the sec. no doubt whoever they get will be proud to be there.

saban's agaent contacted Bama before the dolphins started to win and it looked like saban would lose his job.
i guess Bama moves on to Grobe of wake, Paul Johnson of Navy, Kraigthrope of Tulsa and MAYBE Stoops at Oklahoma. Grobe doesn't excite me. i'd love Johnson he'd do a great job and has 2 NC already. Kraigthrope, i don't know enough about and Stoops would scare me because the ncaa is snooping around oklahoma now for the off field stuff that cost him his qb at the start of the season.

Paul Bryant Jr. has to give up control and Mal needs to retire. This is a failure of epic proportions on their part. It's so bad we'll probably be reduced to offering Rush Propst the job and he'll decline and stay with Hoover.

His next move is to a dream job, and Miami aint no dream job. That guy wants Penn St, it aint no secret. At some point Joe Pa will do whats right and make sure when he steps down that they will get the guy they need. Hes the guy. He can stay in the east and move to the Big Ten. He wasn't going to Miami and everyone knew it. Logistics do play a role in a job a guy takes, and Alabama isn't a big media market. You'll end up getting the right guy, it just won't be the guys you initially wanted. Tom Coughlin may be available soon, God I hope so, and hes a better college coach than a pro coach. Hes aged about 30 years the last few years in NY, and I bet he'd like a job like that. he'd be on my list if I were Bama. |

i have been asked to interview for the job at Alabama. Still weighing my options. it will have to wait for the end of our season here in KC. Home game this weekend but a tough Raven team to deal with. Practices were very good this week so we're expecting a big game tomorrow. Word.
