Suprisingly there were a lot of people who liked this horse. Go back and you'll see that a lot of "experts" picked this horse to win the Derby.

And a lot of bettors --

Smarty Jones: 4.10-1
Lion Heart: 5.40-1
Tapit: 6.40-1

I could never figure out why this horse was so highly touted. He never ran fast or really impressively. I know for a while some of the softer minds in the business were mezmerized by Dickinson but I was surprised how many fell for this plug.

I didn't want anything to do with him on Derby Day, but then again my saavy was a bit underscored when the bottom half of my exacta won the damn thing while my choice, Castledale, finished up the track. So what do I know?

The funniest thing I ever saw in my life was on sportscenter that night after the derby.
They opened with one of the resident ESPN wiseass's wisecracking on "this guy" with his finger in the mud walking around and checking the mud. Everyone in the place I was in ROARED with laughter at that scene.

Haha that's funny, that's what i called it too. A horrible edition of the Wood, through and through- only one runner from that race ever won anything of significance after that (Eddington) and only one other runner won a G3 (Swingforthefences.) Value Plus went off as the 5/2 favorite and you, me, and the popcorn girl knew he needed a cart to go 9F by then... hell i think i bet LittleMathMan or some crazy bomb like that!
Got a 109 on my figures which is about an 89 Beyer (the official number was a 98 if i recall correctly.) Normally the Wood winner will be in the 118 range on my figs.

The guy who does the Ny numbers for Beyer is one of Dickinson's friends and owners, I think that number got a little help. It was a disgrace to give it a 98
