I find it to be a very difficult meet to make money betting. The weather is not great. There is usually quite a bit of rain. The track changes a lot from day to day. They're always sealing the track and unsealing the track. It is my least favorite meet of the year in Southern California by far. I usually can't wait to get it over with.

And it's especially bad for me nowadays since it's the only meet in Southern California that is not televised on TVG. I can't get HRTV where I live, so I can't even watch the races live on television.

It's called the Rainy Season. I experienced the SoCal climate for 5 years of undergraduate school in Pasadena. The Rainy Season started whenever the Interhouse Party was held (usually in mid-November). Lasts until March, when a mini-summer starts, followed by a mini-rainy (or cloudy) season called the June Gloom (frequently starts in May). Then follows the Dry Season, which is followed by the Fire Season (when the Santa Anas blow in), which ends when the Rainy Season starts again.

So Cal's rainy season would be a drought most anywhere else. I acknowledge that we get rain, but hardly a seasonal deluge every year. I have more than 5 years of living here to base it on, 47 to be exact but who's counting.
