Speaking of jockey helmets, just saw this post of Facebook. Another reminder of the dangers of this occupation. Wow, is my reaction for sure

That photo of Prado's helmet is insane!!!

Thanks for those that replied. Much appreciated. I am working on a business project that may ultimately involve jockey helmets and would like to approach the company(s) that the top jocks use.

Surprised to see how much these helmets cost. My wife is CFO/COO at Riddell and they sell their most advanced football helmets with impact-sensor technology to schools for a relatively cheap $150. The difference is probably down to economies of scale, although football helmets are seemingly more difficult to customize (they must be painted in team colors rather than putting a cloth over the top).

Cheers,

Otis

I'm not sure if the jockeys do it, but Charles Owen advises that you replace your helmet after any fall in which you hit your head due to compression of the internal cushion, even if the surface is not cracked. They maintain an injury datebase and offer you a % off a new helmet if it is less than 2 (?) years since you bought the helmet that needs to be replaced.
