Default Very Difficult Trivia

The other day Jason Blewitt was asking who was the last horse bred in Oregon to run at Aqueduct..

It made me think of some of the more obscurely bred horses to ever run in NY..

1. Who was the last horse bred in Denmark to win a race in NY? Hint: The horse also had a Danish trainer..

2. Who was the last horse bred in India to run in NY? Hint: The horse was an undefeated Champion in India before he was sent here to be trained by Bill Mott..

Rossard for Denmark? Unlikely, but hey, it's just about the only Danish horse I know of.

I don't have a clue about #2, but I think I know the answer to #1.

Is it ROUSSARD?

She won the GI Flower Bowl at Belmont in 1984, and went on to produce California's perennial leading sire Unusual Heat to the cover of Nureyev, who stood at Claiborne Farm.

Indian Charlie, you beat me to it! And you got the spelling right, which I didn't, so you get double win points!

Good guess by both of you to come up with another Danish bred.. but it was not Rossard..

This is a tough one.. the horse I'm thinking of was an allowance/high priced claiming type.. trained by Kay Erik Jensen..

LOL! I thought IC and I had it! Ooops!

I guess the key to your question is "the LAST horse bred in Denmark to win in NY". Since Rossard won the Flower Bowl in 1984, the horse you're thinking of must have won in NY since then. Like IC, Rossard was the only Danish-bred I could think of, so I have to throw in the towel.

And as far as the India-bred goes, I'll throw in TWO towels!

The horse I'm thinking of won a race at Belmont in 1996.. She was nowhere near the talent of Rossard..

It was an excellent job by you and IC to even remember another Danish bred NY winner..

I knew of a horse that came from India a few years back named Holding Court but I think he ran at Arlington Park.
