Jim Dunleavy, Laurel-DRF LIVE: Leatherbury plans to scratch Ben's Cat from De Francis Dash
As expected, King Leatherbury has decided to scratch Ben’s Cat from the $350,000 De Francis Dash at Laurel Park on Saturday and instead point to the $200,000 Fabulous Strike Stakes at Penn National on Nov. 26. Ben’s Cat has won the six-furlong Fabulous Strike the past two years. “I haven’t scratched yet but I’m going to,” Leatherbury said just after noon on Friday. “I’m going to wait in case some of the favorites drop out, but that is very unlikely.” Leatherbury is the owner-trainer-breeder of Ben’s Cat, a winner of 27 of 44 starts and more than $2.2 million.
