I think it is absolutely impossible to have a convo with Lauren w/o flirting. That's what happens when you combine flawless conformation with a perfect demeanor. And yes, I'm as guilty as anyone.

I beg to differ. In lieu of flirting I think that I would rather buy her a large iced tea and give her a hearty pat on on the back.

Yes rumors do appear to be rampant on here, some are just started as a joke and others...oh well.
But John Dooley, I just love hearing him call a race. One of my favorite lines is "....and such and such horse is in another parish...." feel bad for the horse being so far behind, but it cracks me up every time he says it.
BTW we have parishs not countys here in Louisiana, guess at Arlington it would be...so and so is in another county.

he customizes his calls towards the track's popularity level and its 'place' within the community. Years ago I heard that he would be Durkin's replacement because I guess he is from NY, lets hope he stays at Arlington for a long long time.

Dooley has invented a couple new words: mudness and groundness.

My memory is horrible, but didn't JGD call the races in Ohio (Thistledown) years ago? I seem to recall watching the NYRA replay show and he (or the guy who was calling races in Ohio if it wasn't him) was filling in for Durkin was on vacation back then.

He called in NY for like three days when Durkin had a death in the family.

JGD & Arlington, Ummm, as long as he comes back to New Orleans for the winter, I enjoy him at the Fairgrounds.
Yes, he does come up with some words, and we sure have some odd words, people & horse names down here in NOLA.
And I think the caller did a good job yesterday, boy that's one job I would never want, it's got to be hard, and to fill in has got to be tough.

Thistle has always had good race callers. The guy that is out at BM now is pretty good and he did Thistle before he got caught in a big scandle Mike Rowna
