![]() Point Given didn't complete the triple, on that note maybe Easy Goer deserves a race in his name also as the poster has mentioned. I think it's alot more appropiate to name races after horses that have done something special on the track rather than name races after geographical locations or people. If With Anticipation and Rinkaverse can have races named after them then why not horses that have had a bigger historical impact on NY racing than lesser one's. Atleast they did the right thing with Forego, but it is strange to me Secretariat is associated with Arlington Park rather than Belmont, I don't know maybe they beat them to the punch by naming the Secretariat stks after him, but it's hard not to think of him and what he did at Belmont Park.

![]() Does Easy Goer have a stakes race named after him? I don't remember seeing one...if he doesn't then surely Summer Bird doesn't deserve one...

![]() It's a little surprising that NY doesn't have a race for him.. You'd think will all he accomplished in the state, plus who his owners were, that there would be a race named in his honor...

![]() I've been petitioning Arlington all summer to rename the Million the Gio Ponti Invitational because he won it last year and then ran second behind the best racehorse EVAR, so I think it's pretty pathetic that he doesn't have a race named for him up here right now.
Or shorter answer: absolutely not. |

Seriously, I think you guys should give back the Secretariat Stakes name to NYRA. However with these guys they probably wouldn't know what to do with it, and continue to treat naming races as a geography lesson. |

And I may not follow the "give back" portion above, but hey, what's new? |

![]() I don't think summer birds career warrants a stake named for him. Surprised that easy goer wasn't honored with one

Summer bird was the 4th/5th best horse in training last year. It would be absolutely ridiculous to have a stake renamed after him, unless they want to mess with some 60k overnight stake.

![]() 4th or 5th best horse in training last year? Who was ahead of him may I ask? It's okay you can have your own poll as to whether Rachel can have her own stake named after her, hopefully it will be run right beside prestigious Curlin stakes at Saratoga.

Gio Ponti / Summer Bird / Quality Road Eh.. he could have been as much as the 3rd best horse, or the 5th. that third row is pretty interchangeable.
