It doesn't help that "0 MTP" means nothing anymore. Gulfstream is worst offender by far, but Arlington and DMR are becoming bad as well. I understand giving the big players time and squeezing the last second cover/panic bets but...

I am fairly confident that some of these TB tracks and ALL of the Harness interests want to get to "0 MTP" well before the horses even approach the gate for a more subtle reason. If you are betting on an ADW/Internet account (most of us are), it probably has a section on wagering screen that contains "Next Races" which are obviously based on MTP. I have bet through 4 different ADW's and all of them have this feature showing 5 or 6 in the Next Race Window. If they get to 0 MTP 5-8 minutes before actual start, it keeps their track in front of you. That will attract the "Action Player" to their track. "Let me put something on the Balmoral 5th while I wait for the TB action". A harness track has one race go Official and then they flash 5 MTP for the next race. At 0 MTP, they haven't even come out on the track. Silly.
