WV Derby and Whitney Post Time

Simultaneously getting into the gate. Couldn't make this up FFS.

You would think that Mountaineer would delay the start of their race just to increase the handle on their race. Ridiculous.

Kitan 08-02-2014 07:07 PM

There was one day on a Tuesday where if I recall something like 5 out of 8 tracks (both breeds) all were going to gate/post within mere minutes of each other. I don't get it.

They let Moreno back in the Travers? No wonder he won this time

I believe that they did this last year as well. Almost positive.

Rose Mary Williams is the director of racing at mnr give her a ring..if you want to lean on others expressbet is there sponsor and root sports was broadcasting it live vs the Whitney out of pittsburgh

I dont racing gives a crap about me and you but annoy the sponsors and broadcasters because mnr might actually listen to them

This is not only true for those 2 races, but for races in general. I see all the time GP/MTH going off at same time, as well as SAR/DMR, and many others. You would think someone could do a better job at scheduling. You would think the smaller tracks would schedule their races 10-12 minutes after the larger tracks, and monitor/adjust during the course of the day.

MTH and GP are both trying to stay off SAR. MTH is on TVG, so is SAR, so it's more critical for MTH to stay clear... but yes, in general, most tracks clearly don't give a hoot.

It doesn't help that "0 MTP" means nothing anymore. Gulfstream is worst offender by far, but Arlington and DMR are becoming bad as well. I understand giving the big players time and squeezing the last second cover/panic bets but...

I am fairly confident that some of these TB tracks and ALL of the Harness interests want to get to "0 MTP" well before the horses even approach the gate for a more subtle reason. If you are betting on an ADW/Internet account (most of us are), it probably has a section on wagering screen that contains "Next Races" which are obviously based on MTP. I have bet through 4 different ADW's and all of them have this feature showing 5 or 6 in the Next Race Window. If they get to 0 MTP 5-8 minutes before actual start, it keeps their track in front of you. That will attract the "Action Player" to their track. "Let me put something on the Balmoral 5th while I wait for the TB action". A harness track has one race go Official and then they flash 5 MTP for the next race. At 0 MTP, they haven't even come out on the track. Silly.

Tb tracks aren't even close to touching harness tracks in dragging out the 0 mtp..even the big time buggy tracks will give you a solid 5 mins before the gate starts

That makes sense re: MTH/SAR. I guess I'd rather see MTH overlap with GP than SAR. Good job calling MTH by the way! I was skeptical after Collmus left after ~ 20 years

No GREAT job calling. Never could cash a ticket at Mth over the years but this year BINGO. Has to be the caller.
