The tweets are definitely real. Those are not new twitter accounts. Those are people that have been on twitter for a few years and have a couple thousand posts. The Secret Service has confirmed that they are investigating.

The Secret Service has no way of knowing if a person is serious or not. That is why they investigate. If a person threatens the President (in an internet post), they will probably be arrested even if they weren't serious. You're not allowed to threaten the President.
