![]() <<"With their flashing lights, free-flowing alcoholic drinks, all-night hours and generally intoxicating atmosphere, casinos are more likely than other gambling options to lead to bad decisions and catastrophic losses for patrons, particularly those prone to problem or compulsive gambling," said the Rev. Patrick Delahanty, executive director of the Catholic Conference of Kentucky.>>
Well, thank goodness the Catholic Church is once again right there to save us from having any fun. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505245_1...ling-proposal/ (prior to it failing the full vote)

My only point is although I disagree with anyone telling me what's good and bad for me I do feel that they have the right to give their opinion and we have the right to ignore them. Without bringing politics into it too much I was wondering how this site, which is filled with Liberals like Steve, have a problem with the Catholic Church making comments like this but have no problem with the Obama crew basically telling us we are to stupid to make our own decisions and big government needs to make them for us. |

![]() Because they believe that the other party is far worse. They settle and don't really have time to get involved and research the candidates.
We've been conditioned to believe that the two-party system is the only choice we have and we will pay in spades for it. |

![]() Neither party is any good. I just want the government to stay the hell out of my personal life as well as out of my pockets. We're turning into a society that looks at success as being a bad thing and rewards laziness and failure.
Guess my only point was how come people on this blog have such a tough time with what government in Kentucky is doing yet they have no problem with what Obama is doing like shoving heath care down our throats and allowing illegal alliens to come into the country and get handouts. |

That said, for those Kentucky residents that are upset about this decision, let your senators know. If you don't know who your local senator is, take the time to find out (five minutes on Google should do it) and call them. (Don't write an email; it's less effective) Identify yourself as a constituent, be polite, but make your opinion clear- that you feel that the voters deserve to decide if gaming is right for your state and that you won't support a senator that opposes letting you decide for yourself. And, also very important- if your Senator voted in favor of letting it go to a popular vote, call and let them know you support their vote and you hope they'll vote in favor again the next time the bill comes up (as it will). I know money controls politics, but it only goes so far, as Carly Fiorino's run for CA governor showed. Ultimately, politicians just want to keep their jobs, and they can only do it if people vote for them. If they really start to fear they'll be voted out, they'll alter their votes accordingly. If this is important to you, call them. You have the power to affect this.
