Not hard to figure out. Sandusky was almost as big a legend as Joe Pa himself.

He was not some slap dick defensive coordinator ... he was a guy who could have had a head coaching job almost anywhere if he wanted it.

Congrats Penn State students. Not only is your university now widely despised but your behavior shows you are a bunch of losers. Good luck getting a job with a degree from that cesspool.

These morons kept quiet to protect their school, brand, program and what they did was destroy it. Had they called the cops immediately, the school would have had a bit of a scandal on their hands, but it would have blown over as soon as Sandusky went to jail. Not to mention how many kids that could have been saved from future torture.

So, by sweeping it under the rug, Joe Pa was able to keep on keeping on and more kids continued to be abused and now the whole thing crashes down. Arrogant assholes that think they are above the law and can handle things themselves.

I hope the Feds go after each and every one that knew anything about this and did nothing, including people in Sandusky's personal life. I do not know what legally can be done with the likes of Paterno, McQueary, et al, but I hope they live a miserable life, haunted by all the kids they could have saved by making a simple phone call to the authorities.

I wonder how those protesting students will feel 10-20 years from now, when they look their own 10 year old son in the eye.

Hopefully they all commit suicide as every single one of us was a perfect human being at age 18/19 etc. I mean perfect. Flawless. Not one silly thing ever done. Ever. Zero chance that at age 37 any of them will be at all different. Zero.

Yeah, it's horrible of me to think that everyone out in the State College streets last night is not a despicable human being with no potential or future. Maybe I'll start posting in the paddock more. I saw my school called a cesspool. I simply disagreed and made some ironic points. The facts are you really don't know a single thing about me personally. It's a freaking message board.

Maybe you were too stupid at 18 or 19 to realize that enabling pedophiles is sick but not all of us were.

Just from the football point of view the guy has not won a National Championship since before I was born. His teams are always ranked but always overrated because of the name attached to it. When was the last really good team they had at Penn St? It was sad seeing an old man and his wife on the porch last night, even I felt a little bit bad. He deserved to be fired though, now he should just fall back and live the rest of his life peacefully.

I'm sorry, how many of those 18 and 19 year old kids "rioting" were enabling pedophiles?? Maybe I was too stupid. I assure you that you did not know me at 18 or 19 nor do you know me now. You have a rightly high opinion of yourself which is good. It was really, really bad what happened. I agree with everyone on that. I simply understand people defending Paterno. the facts are he was not pure and complete evil for all 61 years at the University I attended and was well liked for the most part.

This is really clear to me now

2000 Penn State 5-6
2001 Penn State 5-7

It is public knowledge that they wanted him to retire at this point
and there was no way they could fire Joe PA

March 1, 2002 – A Penn State graduate assistant enters the locker room at the Lasch Football Building. In the showers, he sees a naked boy, known as Victim 2, whose age he estimates to be 10 years old, being subjected to anal intercourse by a naked Sandusky. The graduate assistant tells his father immediately.

March 2, 2002 – In the morning, the graduate assistant calls Coach Joe Paterno and goes to Paterno's home, where he reports what he has seen.

March 3, 2002 – Paterno calls Tim Curley, Penn State Athletic Director to his home the next day and reports a version of what the grad assistant had said.

If he follows up and goes to the cops it gives the administration fuel to press him to retire or fire him.

It's not like Paterno violated NCAA rules and was being railroaded out of town.

HE DID NOTHING TO STOP SANDUSKY.

"Silly" can describe a lot of college-age antics, but wanting Paterno to continue coaching after what happened this week is depraved.
Lots of things are depraved. We are trained to worship elites. I stated flat out paterno should be fired immediately as well as Spanier. Then man was a legend and a huge part of the university for 61 years. Gee, some disagreed with my opinion, many of them 19 year olds. No, you should not riot and a few did damage to the city and property. That is bad. The overwhelming majority did not.

We once had a presidential administration knowingly lie to get us into a war that has killed multiple thousands of human beings...including multiple thousands of Americans. They set up a world wide torture ring, knowlingly and proudly. There isn't a bit of outrage or anything. They walk around smiling and on TV most of the time. The facts are the majority of people in this country accept the torture of other human beings as a good thing, and we all think it's fine. Our current administration summarily executes US Citizens and no one blinks an eye. The last two administrations put people in gulags for "indefinite detention" forever if they so desire. No one blinks an eye. What went on at Penn State was depraved without question and is despicable up and down the chain. It does not make the place I attended college a cess pool. Just like I don't think the United States is a cess pool despite the last two administrations doing depraved things. So yeah, let's express outrage at several hundred 18 and 19 year old Penn State students protesting a firing of a legend. That's what's really important. AGain, I think their opinion is flat wrong but I certainly understand it.

So some 19 year old thinking Paterno shouldn't be fired is far down on my list of depraved things going on in this world. People have a right to express dismay at the Paterno firing although they shouldn't damage property doing it. I don't agree with their opinion but they certainly have a right to have it...thinking Paterno should not have been fired.

Your post reads like an "relativist" defense, but we are talking about this instance.

Announcing that anyone has a "right" to express dismay is not the point; whether it is a moral defense is the point.

What the protesting students are doing, whether they know it or not -- and shame on them if they do not understand this notion -- is defending a man who protected a pedophile. There is no way around that.

It is unfathomable to me that any human being would put their idolatry before the lives of innocent children. And those who do are wrong.

We are not talking about a coach who violated NCAA rules, or blew a .11, or had a drug problem. I could see a mass protest if that were the case.

Is pedophilia in a "gray area"?

Those who treat it as such -- and I expect 18-21 year-olds to get this -- are immoral.
Good post. I do not worhsip elites...an extremely large percentage of Americans do. A lot of people actually respected and still do, Ronald Reagan, another senile criminal bastard of similar strain as Joe Paterno. I view the misguided students worshipping Paterno as those who actually think Reagan was someone to be admired. He isn't, nor is paterno at this point. I was hopeful Paterno was just a doddering old fool hanging on for meaningless records. I was sadly wrong. I think the students currently at Penn State doing their stuff on Wednesday night holding joe vigils were simply misguided which I understand. I feel the same about people who still think Ronald REagan was a good man. He wasn't. Many people will disagree with me on that which is fine, but that is why I defended the misguided students at Penn State. Simply misguided at this time.

Really?? Cesspool? That's pretty much incorrect. 100 percent. Generally I'm guessing the facts are that 99 percent of the student's "rioting" were not really rioting, and an overwhelmingly large percentage of students were not even "not rioting". It is only disappointing to me to see some many misinformed students defending the "establishment". IT's not really a cesspool
