However some good news Quote:

www.urban.org According to the source cited by Riot there are more whites on welfare than black by 1%(38% v. 37%.) However when you consider 2010 census data that shows African Americans make up 12% of population while whites 65% it starts to make that stat a bit clearer. Considering the differences in size of population by race, would show an African American is five times as likely to be on welfare compared to a white. |

![]() It's sad watching people jump through hoops trying to justify their prejudices and hatred of welfare recipients.
Hey, the John Birch Society is always looking for a few more good haters: you gotta hate gay active-duty soldiers, hate uninsured who die from accidents, cheer governors that kill people. Yay! It's morning in America! Your candidate appears to be Rick Perry. Unless you hate Muslims more than brown people, then it's Herman Cain.

What are you doing, if not trying to justify your dislike of those awful "welfare recipients"? You're desperate to try and find numbers that fulfill your bitter prejudices against "welfare recipients". Because otherwise, why would the numbers matter to you?

![]() My dislike for welfare has nothing to do with race and everything to do with self-reliance and fairness especially when one has been on longer than five years. In fact I'll go so far and say I dislike white welfare recipients more than black just because they have no prejudice/racism excuse, real or not, to get themselves out.

![]() As usual, the war of statistics...you either are a person who feels people come first (before political ideology, sound bites from one side or the other, and greed) or you don't. The "what's mine is mine and if I think you might take even a minute piece of that causes me to hate you" philosophy may be satisfying in the short run, but what goes around comes around and in these uncertain days, to quote Dylan, "the first one now will later be last". Look down upon the disadvantaged, the poor and the needy but don't forget to occasionally look in the mirror..."there but for the grace of God..."

![]() The myth of the "welfare queen" ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welfare_queen Rick Scott, president of a medical services company who had to pay 1.7 billion in fraud and damages for Medicare fraud, was somehow then elected Governor of Florida, a state filled with Medicare recipients. Go figure that one, huh? One of the first things Scott does, is accuse "welfare queens" of being drug addicts (even though we're in a recession and we have the highest unemployment since the depression), and he orders that anyone applying for assistance has to take and pay for their own drug test. Oh - by the way, his company of Florida clinics specializes in doing drug tests (he put that company in his wife's name when he was elected Governor). The result? Less than 2% of assistance seekers even turn up positive for drugs, Florida is now out multiple thousands per month to pay for the unneeded drug tests (out of a decreased state budget to start with), Gov. Rick Scott's drug testing clinics are making thousands a month - until a Federal Judge puts a kabosh on the whole damn scam by pointing out there is no evidence "welfare recipients are drug abusers". And people wonder why Occupy Wall Street exists.

![]() I didn't say racist, Dell. I said "prejudiced" and "hatred". You know, two words that have completely different meanings than "racist"?

Herman Cain is the one who already made some pretty nasty public statements about Muslims. If you don't like Muslims, looks like he's your guy. Herb doesn't like them, either.
