You'd better contact the Treasury Secretary and let him know. He seems to think differently.

Here: you pick what we should not pay. Need to delete about 1/3 of it:
Social Security
Medicare and Medicaid
Government employee salaries
Military salaries
Government contractors payments for things we bought

Social Security should be seperated and privatized. It should no longer serve as a lending agent for Fed giveaway programs. SSI is a completely different animal and anyone not having worked a legit job (contributed) should not be eligble to collect. Those requiring support that had not made any contributions should be moved and addressed under welfare and charity programs.

Military salaries are untouchable.

Government contractors that have completed work and or delivered goods should be paid.

Government employees could be reduced by 50% easy including congressional staffing! Privatize any necessary jobs and say goodbye to pension and healthcare obligations. Those that remain should have pay frozen and like most of the private world, contribute to their pension and healthcare accounts.

Medicare can be reduced by 10% (fraud) and Medicaid patients should check into the local county hospital as the country no longer is in the position to finance their private care.

In addition we need to stop supporting/subsidizing Fannie and Freddie and like I said before seperate completely from the USPO. All hi-speed train fund giveaways need to be returned. What's sad is how much money was wasted already and can't be retrieved. (My town purchased a high tech golf cart for parking control under the guise of homeland security LOL) GM and all of the banks need to repay ALL the money loaned plus interest or face fines starting now. Egypt, Pakistan etc etc should be cutoff completely and be on the hook for any money owed not have debts forgiven.

Ultimately once the above is done, taxes on (EVERYONE) can be raised provided that those new taxes are used exclusively to pay down the debt and obviously cut interest payments. No one should pay no taxes while others pay over a 1/3 of their income. We have lived it up long enough. Tough times are ahead but think of what bond rating we'd get if instead of passing a new debt ceiling we actually started paying down the debt!
