Didn't the other horses that figured to show speed all get gutted merely giving chase to the frontrunner? Except for your OBS superhorse, the superfecta was made up of runners from the back half of the field. I don't think the Pletcher and co. were rating behind the leader. Whether or not that's the definition of a "collapse", I don't know, but certainly the speed didn't hold which seems atypical for that race (I think the last 3 years have been won wire-to-wire).

Some field it was, too. Made up of Penn National and Presque Isle maiden breakers and a couple of maiden claiming winners. The other first time starter in there (a late running 5th) was less than 9-1.

I'll wait for Keeneland before anointing this one.

This horse is good Rolo. Just the money it took said a whole lot.

By the way, I didn't cash on anything in it.

Why would the odds be important in this case (a 5f 2yo stakes in June)? Wasn't the other first time starter a relatively low price, too?

Who was the heavy in there?

A Johar half to Biofuel should be more like 55/1 debuting at 5fs.

Biofuel, a multiple graded stakes winning Canadian champion, won her debut sprinting over the same course for the same connections, a 20% barn that is one of the most recognizable in this country coming out of Canada.

She was like The_Fat_Man's favorite horse.

She is an excellent drafter. Personally, I think she'd be a killer at 7f, having won 2 of 3 sprinting and showing some "hang", albeit against Grade 1 foes, at 9f last year.

But comments from Reade Baker suggests she will only route. Should start soon I'd imagine.

After one race, of course, I'll wait too, but there should be some reason to be excited by the potential given the ridiculously strong effort. Not sure if you are a Reade Baker fan, but I love the guy and he held nothing back to suggest that she was special. For a guy like that to no mince words, even on a special horse, is something, he was even talking Breeders' Cup. Just not his norm.
