Leave it to Jay Hovdey to gush about the 1997 Preakness and completely ignore the performance of Touch Gold who traded a chunk of dirt in the face for a chunk of his hoof when he went to his knees--jockey cam in tow--at the start. Recovered to make a threatening bid inside only to run into some traffic while finishing just in behind the blanket finishers.

At least he didn't mention flavor-of-the-week Barry Irwin, who owned 3rd place finisher Captain Bodgit. Not sure if Dale Capuano is one of the dreaded "liars".

I would say " even for Hovdey that's embarrassing " but we're so far past that concept that this article is just more of the same.

He would have " remembered " the truth if Julie rode Touch Gold.

Can't wait for his Belmont Stakes Top Ten.

I wonder if he'll mention the whip count Mrs. Hovdey unleashed on Colonial Affair through the stretch of his open length victory.

I just hope Secretariat can top Julie winning the Belmont. I also hope he remembers to mention Colonial Affair.

If it was any horse but Secretariat, the "Move" becomes the "Horrible Ride". Ask Stuey Elliot.

For my money, the Afleet Alex stumble was something I'll never forget.

Never will forget the Afleet Alex call by Dave Rodman (HOW MUCH THE BEST IS HE!!!!), nor the Barbaro Preakness. Pretty amazing that there wasn't further calamity at the Preakness considering what could have happened in 2005.

I should double check Revidere. "Gary" Capuano sounds made up.

It indeed was Gary, not Dale, that trained Captain Bodgit.
