![]() BTW- I know BYU is a football school and as such there may be a little more leeway but I have hard time believing that Jim McMahon followed that script for 4 years

The problem in this case is that there is no plausible denial. There was a young man on the basketball team and his girlfriend became pregnant. In lieu of divine intervention, I would say chances are he broke the rules. |

![]() I wouldn't go there cause I know I'd break the rules. But you can't know the rules going in, accept them, break them, and then cry about having to accept the consequences. What other guys on the team or other students at the university may or may not be doing is irrelevant. At issue is what should the school have done about his situation and as Dalakhani has said, they really had no choice in the matter. I feel bad for the other players and for the coaching staff, especially the head coach who was going to be in a great position to cash in big time had they won a couple of games in the NCAA tournament. I don't feel bad for the kid though. In the grand scheme of things, what he did was very minor. But we are looking at it from our perspective. I applaud them for standing up for something more than just wins and losses. In today's world, that's very rare. Now, if there is leeway given in other instances, that's a different story but as far as I have read, there isn't.

![]() ..............and then there's Ohio St. Today, they fined Tressel $250k and suspended him for the first two games of next season because he knew about the whole tattoo/memorabilia thing way back in April but never said anything. Of course, it's very nice of them to do this after the bowl game.
