Florida St didn't even belong on the same field as Oklahoma
and while Virginia and Miami weren't horrible in games against talented opponents....they still lost.

Clemson, on the other hand, did manage to to follow up their Week1 win over the always-dominant North Texas with a Week2 score over mighty Presbyterian.

So let's say (hypothetically) that Clemson runs the table and goes undefeated and there is only one other major-conference unbeaten....we'll say Oklahoma. Does Clemson deserve a shot at the championship game or should they, like Boise, be passed over by a one-loss SEC team, because the ACC sucks?
Texas which is the biggest NCAA football program out there plays 2 teams this year ranked in the top 25. Assuming they get to the Big 12 championship game against Nebraska they will play 3 ranked teams including the same team twice. They also play powerhouses Rice, Wyoming, UCLA (who lost at home to Stanford 35-0), Iowa State (who lost to iowa 35-7), Baylor (who is probably going to be a 18pt underdog to TCU this week), Kansas state (who was less than impressive against UCLA which stinks), Florida Atlantic (a sunbelt team), Ok state (who just beat Troy by 3) and texas A&M. Tougher than Boise's schedule? Yeah but hardly the gauntlet that you'd be led to believe that every BCS conference school plays.

And America wants to see them as well

Great article in the local paper today where Mathews was talking about how he had 60 kids on his team the Va Tech didn't want and how not a single kid on JMU didn't even so much as make a visit to Va Tech. Saying there was no way that JMU is supposed to beat Tech.

Go Dukes
Your UNC Heels are probably the best team in the ACC when they get their cheaters, I mean players on probation back. The ACC is dreadful.

and Darren....they ARE one of the big boys now. No one wants play them, especially in Idaho. Think any of the vaunted SEC teams would ever venture onto the blue field when Jacksonville state is available? C'mon give them their due. Under the theory you guys operate on the NCAA basketball tourney should be reduced to 8 teams and lesser conference teams like Memphis and Butler shouldn't be invited. I read a story today stating that even though the writer had them ranked as the 2nd best team in the country because JMU beat Va Tech, Boise shouldn't play in the nat'l championship game. What kind of ****in logic dictates that the 2nd best team in the country shouldn't play in the title game because of what another team does? If they are so unworthy then what is the big deal? They will get killed in the championship game anyway? Right? They are the best thing that has happened to college football in that their continued success will eventually force a change to a playoff.

Yep. I firmly believe that a team's schedule and conference-strength should matter. However, the thing is that a lot of people get locked into thinking of certain conferences in certain ways no matter the reality in that particular season. Two years ago the Big12 (particularly the South) was absolutely loaded. This year....not so much. I think the Big10 is probably better than the Big12 this year. The ACC, meanwhile, appears to be a big pile of crap despite their "BCS conference" label.
Basically I think that if there is a team from the Big 10, or the SEC, or the Big 12 this year that goes undefeated than yeah, I think they should probably be selected over Boise. My problem is when people suggest that a one-loss team from one of those conferences would deserve to go over them. I think that's wrong.

it does appear that way. clemson is the big hope now, and they travel to auburn next wknd...intriguing matchup. the worst part of the game? whoever wins will get touted like mad after, and most likely won't deserve to be.

How dare you discount my Tigers from Big12 North contention? After all, the boys crushed mighty McNeese State yesterday.

Hey, at least they looked pretty good in the second half.

The good news is that I fully expect Mizzou to be 5-0 after their first five games.
The bad news is that I fully expect them to be 5-3 after their first eight.
