Wonder if the Double DQ in today's 5th will have an effect, especialy since one of the placing's number wasn't blinking?

I think they did blink both numbers. Marquez claimed foul against both Bravo and Fragoso.

The 2 wasn't blinking when I saw it.

You know, come to think of it I think you are right. I watched the race and really wasn't paying attention to the inquiry. I just figured that Bravo was coming down. But I didn't think the 2 was even involved. I swear I heard that Marquez on the 1 lodged an objection against Bravo on the 4 and Fragoso on the 6. From what I remember Ortiz on the 2 was on the rail out of harms way. I have to go home and watch the race again, but I think you are correct Alan.
Or maybe I just heard everything wrong, which is very possible as well. ![]()

A little off topic, but I went to Monmouth on Father's Day. It was a little crowded but a great atmosphere. It also had a big card, full fields and low takeout on the pick 4s and the 50-cent pick 5 (which also had a guaranteed pool). I even got to see Bravo DQ'd from first in one race (not that I got anything against Bravo, but it did keep me alive in the pick 4). I did not count the purse total. I did have a good time.

Don't feel bad, I had him when he was taken down a couple of Saturday's ago as well. It was Steven Foster Day. But that's 3 dq's already (that I could think of), pretty amazing. Since they only race 3 days a week, does the schedule/penalty for doing days change?

I don't understand why you guys dont understand that giving away $50 million over 50 days doesn't mean that they will actually give away a million a day?
On Saturday for example they have 2 stakes worth $1000000 alone. Obviously they have 10 other races to fill that day. If you take the 50 for 50 literally then how do you propose that they stay within the $50 million dollar parameter? Most tracks that give away high average purse amounts have that average bouyed by a large stakes schedule. In virtually all horseman/racetrack contracts there exists a certain % that the overnight purses and stakes purses has to meet. As for the idea that there is "false advertising" LOL! Seriously? Show me where it says that there will be exactly $1 million dollars given away everyday. Does anyone really think that Saratoga gives away $729,000 on its glorious Monday cards? |

So wait, there are people here saying when this 50 day ( or is it 51? ) meet is over the average daily purses will actually be $1 million?
Can I get some action on the other side?

I guess the final total will boil down to which races go and which don't and how many starters they get for those $1,500 entry reward added to the purse.
I see the published purse for the 1st race today was 21K and it ended up being 31.6K. Any volunteers want the annoyingly tedious and extremely pointless task of keeping track of purses they pay out in Joisey? |

It really does. The whole thing is LOL funny. They're running a really nice optional claimer worth $84,000 right now, they've averaged 9.7 runners per race today on a nondescript Friday, and the complaints are they're only paying the winner 50% instead of 60%, and so far the average per day purses aren't at $1,000,000. I guess you can't please everybody.
