They should just run her until she is like 12.

Garcia rode a great race, I wasn't sure I would ever say that.

Sure Vic wanted Zen extra special in that last panel.

He rode a great race. Had 9 lbs. Came out to force her wide coming into the stretch. Came out again mid-stretch. I'm gunna says this again. If you want to beat the best, then the horse can't be twirling the left front like that (it matters going 9-10f.)

1) Knew his surroundings, knew the horses inside of him were dead and waited to the very last second and tried to get the jump on her, and he did

2) Took her as wide as possible without necessarily hurting his mount

He wasn't 'just' riding for 2nd, he was riding to win, and he could have easily just started shoving at the 1/2 mile pole and blown by those other horses and lost the race by a couple lengths. His ride gave him a real chance to win

I think he would have had his best chance to win, if he layed closer to the pace, rather than sitting just in front of Zen....how in the world was he going to out close her from back there.....She had shown some sort of pace in the past, and i think could have shown more than that early....
I take nothing away from the BIG Horse, she is pretty nice....winning all those races coming from behind, is certainly no easy thing.....

I think I'm finally understanding the folks who like Zenyatta. She certainly gives you a charge every time she runs. Has this horse ever won an easy race?

Her 2 BC wins were pretty easy, IMO

I think this was her best race in her 17 race career, not from a numbers perspective or even a competition standpoint, for some reason to me, she didn't look like she was on top of her game today, if you would have asked me with 100 yds to go would she had caught St. Trinians who ran a hell of a race I would have said no. She looked beat and somehow got up to win, just as Personal Ensign willed her way to victory in the BC, these are the moments that you don't forget as a racefan whether you are a fan of West coast racing or east coast racing. I also thought Vic was right on his game today also, magical stuff.

That, ladies and gentleman, is what the sport looks like in 2010...
