I completely understand and respect your point. They really dont kill the fox any more during Fox Hunts. But its neat to see (the horses running, not the fox thing) and those warmbloods just jump anything they see. Takes a lot of courage to ride in a hunt (you couldnt pay me enough to do it)

In many places including Europe they do still kill the fox.

I know it was banned in the UK and Ireland (the killing part). I'm sure there are still hunts that occur where there is a kill. But for the most part it has been banned. Dont know about other European countries.

England has pretty much done away with that blood sport.

If there's a problem with animals, a humane death would be the answer. Hunting deer with dogs is illegal in most states. Hunting animals with dogs is not to my liking, but I know a lot of people who do it. They just don't expect their dogs to do the killing.

I always loved that picture.

many dogs exist now in the way they do due to years of breeding for hunting. irish wolfhounds almost disappeared after their reason for being was wiped out. believe it or not, poodles were hunting dogs. beagles, rat terriers (yep, used for ratting) dachsunds, all hunters. that helps explain why many dogs love to dig in your yard, they're looking for their 'prey'. we live in a new world now, so people have gotten away from that-but american foxhounds exist because of fox-hunting, and of course because of george washington.
