btw hooves, your rule (a) comes close but i'd just call it the terri schiavo rule and say the person has to be famous for something other than dying.
terri schiavo was well known before she died so technically wouldn't be disqualified under your rule as written. not that there are a ton of persistant vegative states in the news now. but you never know when someone may come along to make a point about end of life rights and publically announce their suicide in advance. it could get press and the point of schiavo rules is to get rid of low hanging fruit like that.
