While the Phillies surely made a good trade without giving up their best prospects they certainly gave up far more than the Mariners did. Ronny Cedeno who is average at best and not getting better, a positionless Clement and three arms that are a long way away and not very highly rated isnt close to Carrasco, Donald and Marson and Knapp is a 19 year old power pitcher who may be the best player ultimately. Donald and Marson were blocked or not the Phils top options but that doesnt mean they arent still good prospects. Carrasco was a 5 star prospect going into this year and while hehas been erratic his upside is still huge. Certainly the Indians didn't get a current 5 star prospect which considering Lee's favorable contract is a surprise but they got 4 guys who should be major league players of some ability. The Pirates simply got a cheap replacement for Wilson and organizational depth.

The Alderson trade could be a huge mistake for SF. Sanchez is what he is and that isnt that great. Alderson could be a star. Sabean does some unusual things...
