I know a guy who won one of them 2 years ago and he made lots of cover bets the last week of the contest to assure himself some cash whether or not he won the contest.

So why take them away? For $10 you could get a lot of juice. I finished 28th in the fall one last year and had a lot of fun.

Yeah, I liked the showdown contest a lot. I never finished in the money but came close once or twice. I read an article before the Saratoga meet where NYRA officials said they planned on bringing their contests back eventually. I have a feeling we won't see any type of contest until after the franchise issue is determined. Well see.
