Why exactly does she need to change her stance?

I have, and have had, many gay friends but I don't believe in gay marriage either -- unless it's clearly indicated as distinct from marriage. And this has nothing to do with religion, as I'm agnostic.

So, what can't she and others like her believe what they want?
