This horse is as close to Marquetry, who upset very very good horses, as I am to Tiger Woods. Who knows, if he gets 113 and change again he can win the Pacific.

Slow paced races should not be given the benifit of doubt.

What I don't understand is why the rider of Mcann's Mohave put a full nelson on him early.

I felt the same way about the pull on Daytona. Horse fighting jockey all down the backstretch. No wonder he backed out of it. Notice to jocks: IT DOESN'T WORK. If the horse wants to run and won't listen to you, let it go. Shoemaker knew that - dedicated deep-closer Cougar II (My Own True Love) got rank in a 10f turf stakes at Santa Anita and the Shoe let him run. Was 3 lengths in front first time under the wire and 6 in front the second time.

The track plays relatively fair compared to other synthetic surfaces. If the pace is quick then its likely the speed has little shot, if its slow you better be pretty good to rally from way back. Its not like dirt but if all syn tracks were like yesterday I would not have an issue with the surfaces. Its not like dirt for speed but its not unfair either, which typically it is at Del Mar and Kee, and for the second part of Santa Anita.
