The connections said after the Hal's Hope they were far from certain about the Donn.
This horse just made his third career start the first week of his 4YO year, and it is the beginning of a long year, perhaps throwing him to the wolves immediately might not be the wisest move. It's a long year and there will be plenty of opportunities. Oh, and no, he had next to no shot of beating Invasor. |

No. I thought he was a horse who would take wise guy money is all. Big deal, he beats Sir Greeley and SNS. Doesnt make him a threat against Invasor. I thought Premium Tap would have been a great bet in here. |

He can always use the post position as an excuse.
Speaking of that, anybody really think the post position did SNS in on Sat? I sure dont. Looked like a perfect trip to me and I thought for sure he was a winner on the far turn. |

i must be honest.... i feel invasor is very overated... there are 100 reassons why...first he beat no one at pimlico and then he beat no one at belmont ... then he wins the whitney and barley and i mean barley beats sun king... then he lays off and beats bernardini, now for ppl who knock bernardini and say he faced no one, i feel invasor faced less and in the breeders up bernardini was not himself hes under a ride, looks to be going backwards then finally kicks in and invasor bye no means crushed him in that spot.. im not saying hes not a good horse and i know this will now get alot of ppl posting that im crazy but thats just how i feel.

Invasor wouldnt have been that great back in the mid 90's but given the lack of any other really good older horses, well Charlie, I guess that makes him a star. I think hes pretty darn good but I wouldnt be surprised if he gets beat. Maybe not in the Donn because there isnt anyone really decent in there, but in Dubai for sure. Especially if Mccans Mojave ships to Dubai (ha ha, kidding).

Point Given, Lemon: English Channel got a bit sick and missed some time. He is a diminutive colt and will probably race at FG and pass on Dubai.
T#B good analysis right on. BTW and Da hoss terrific job intimidating infrequent posters. BBB |

invasor won all but one race in his career. he's faced the best this country had to offer. as for 'laying up' and then beating bernardini, his long layoff caused concern for many--there's fresh, and there's rusty. bernardini certainly didn't have an overly tough schedule. as for the classic, bernardini ran a race like all his others--same timewise and figurewise. problem was this time another horse was faster than he had been all year. way overrated? by whom? i think bernardini was overrated by those who thought he was seattle slew reborn. but no one went nuts all year about invasor--he only got any press after the classic! |
