Just when you think you’ve seen the worst DQ in history.....to ensure a carryover Churchill Downs tops it yesterday. Is this a coincidence ? On July 26 the Nyra stewards erroneously took down a 2 year old trained by Steve Asmussen and put up the Todd Pletcher hoss who got beat. This made the pick 6 carryover which was a financial boon to NYRA. Consensus was that it was brutally bad, especially since an egregious foul had no resulted in any action a couple of races earlier.
Yesterday Churchill Downs came up with a ridiculously bad double DQ to place the third hoss first ,making the single winner pick 6 carryover. They are trying to make it proceed, unhit, toward a forced payout tomorrow. When these forced payouts happen. The handle is huge and very profitable for the track.
How can the 2 worst DQ’s of the year BOTH have the same outcomes....carryovers where there shouldn’t be carryovers ? If you had the winning ticket for $317 K, what would you think ?

In a bit of justice, one winner took home half a million after hitting the pick 6 today, so NO big carryover tomorrow for Churchill. After watching again a couple of times......what a Ridiculous double takedown yesterday.

By way of an attempt to enlighten, people should attempt to understand that in most jurisdictions the majority of stewards in the stand don't work for the racetrack.

In NY, one is a NYRA steward, one a Jockey Club steward and one a NY Gaming Commission steward.

In KY, two are from KY Horse Racing Commission, one from the racetrack association running (CD, KEE, TP, ELP or KD).

Just because they don’t work for the racetrack, doesn’t mean they don’t eat at the same table. they all know each other. This industry has plenty of people who are scared to speak their mind because of repercussions. Do you really think Andy Serling would have nothing to say about the ridiculous cash grab at Saratoga if he wasn’t drawing a fat check from NYRA? If they had real stewards, do you think the Ortiz brothers would get away with the collusion they pull on a daily basis ? They do whatever they want....just like Churchill who wouldn’t even allow the DRF to be sold there last spring.

And of course, I'm immediately sorry I bother trying to explain anything. The thought that racetracks are magically getting stewards to adjust decisions to manipulate carryovers is ridiculous.

And stop dragging Andy into every discussion while manufacturing smears of NYRA. It's tiresome. Similarly, you have no idea who was at fault in the DRF/CDI dispute. None. Just stop already.
