Sad to say that Battle of Midway broke down this morning at Santa Anita and had to be put down. Just awful.

Grade 1 winner Battle of Midway broke down this morning at Santa Anita, according to Don Alberto racing manager Fernando Diaz-Valdes. They're trying to save him, but Diaz-Valdes said "the vets say there's no way." Diaz-Valdes said the horse shattered his pastern in a hind leg.
