Hell I would rather have a nice framed picture signed by the jock of Super Saver winning the Derby or Drosselmeyer winning the Classic then a keychain. I guess I just don't value a keychain too much, especially when it's the grand prize of a contest.

To be fair, they actually offer prizes like that several times a year for various contests. As far as fan interaction goes, they really have been far and away the most creative, so a keychain, in light of what everyone else does, is really giving.
