![]() Cleveland legend Herb Score passed away today. An absolutely dominating lefty his first two years in the league...most famous for being hit in the face by a Gil McDougald line drive in 1957. He became the team's radio voice in the mid 60s after a couple years on TV. Broadcast games through 1997...his last broadcast the game 7 World Series loss to the Marlins. I grew up with absolutely horrendous baseball and listening to Herb nightly through the 70s. By all accounts one of the classiest human beings in the game. One of his ex-broadcast partners said of Score, he witnessed more bad baseball than anyone on the planet! One of the most beloved figures in the generally horrid Cleveland sports scene.
