So what was the point of your post to me if you agree with what I said?

I guess the point was I did not really see anyone, but 1 person defending Vic. Her defense was not much at all. Thats all. I should have kept it to myself.

To be honest, if I knew posting about Vic would get Stonegossard posting more, I'd start a Vic thread every week.

I posted the article here and on other sites because his words made feel AWFUL. To get ripped like that cuts to the core justified or not. Racecalling is my professional life. I live and die with every call. I hoped sharing the column would cause people to say positive things which I needed at the time. Probably should have slept on it, cowboyed up and not reached out in a moment of weakness.

One person defended him and others agreed with what she said....hence multiple people. Whatever.

Have you had any previous experience with the author, or was this kind of out of the blue?

Too bad Clyde is banned from this forum. This thread screams for his participation.

The tour ended a while back. I only posted as a shout out to my man Hoss. Hope you enjoyed PJ20......I didn't...thought is could have been much better.

On a serious note Vic has thrown a ton of fastballs down the middle over the months, but I refrained. Is like playing T-Ball....you can't miss. Others have done a fine job knocking them out of the park. The last time I chimed in he said some very dumb things to me on a public forumn which could have cost him his job.

I kinda feel bad for the guy....that's what he wants anyways with this thread....mission accomplished.

When I read the article I thought that there had to be some sort of past between the two. The article is so over the top, that it's ridiculous. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the call.

I guess it was a really slow week, news wise in the industry. Or just maybe the guy is just really friendly with Wrona and is just trying give his guy a leg up at Vic's expense. Who knows, who cares? I feel like the writer comes across terribly in this piece. It's so skewed, that he must have some sort of agenda against Vic. It's that obvious.

Osterman wants to talk about bad journalism, maybe he should take a look in the mirror. With all that's wrong in the sport he chooses to use his platform to rip apart a guy who does his job with personality, character and feeling.

I love ya Vic! I personally dont care for Wrona's nasally Australian accent, but he is good.

VJ keeps it fresh and exciting. If Osterman thinks Vic is horrible, I wonder what he must think of Battaglia?..bwhahaha

Maybe he comes off terribly, but again we're only looking at it from one side. His criticism of Vic saying "darn it" is over the top, I agree. But he says its another example of Vic trying to be "the show." It's probably not the best example, but some do feel like Vic does this. If that is what his point was, he probably could have made it more effectively.

Hopefully Osterman responds or Vic answers if the two of them have a past. Maybe he is valid for having an agenda, maybe not. We don't know. But, it's worth mentioning most of us would have never even seen this if it wasn't posted. I just tried to find the actual article and I couldn't. Who knows what his platform even is.

Personally, I like when announcers are colorful. I don't think it's a matter of Vic trying to be "The Show", but he is indeed a part of it. For example, most of us don't care for Battaglia. Isn't it because his monotone calls lack some sort of passion and all sound the same? Vic has personality, is Osterman saying that is bad? I also like it when Vic or another announcer uses the jocks name. It doesn't make me think that he's just name dropping because they are friends, if anything it makes me think he's aware and on the ball. As opposed to when an annoucer says something like the rider lost the irons, or is strangling his mount trying to control his speed. That's when I have to look at the form to see whom the jock is. So technically, he is reporting what is going on.

The whole thing is just very strange. Like I said before, this guy has a platform to speak and for him to waste a spot on an article like this makes me think he had an ulterior motive.

i agree with maths post. i think the callers should have some personality in their calls. battaglia is just awful-races are supposed to be exciting. he sounds like he's calling paint drying.

as for 'darn it', what's wrong with saying darn it? doesn't sound as tho it was scripted, just sounded like something most of us would say (maybe a bit cleaner on vics part) if a horse pulled up or went wrong. i'm more amazed when a caller doesn't mention it at all-everyone can see that something has happened, but the caller doesn't? i think it's the callers job to give out pertinent info, a horse getting pulled up is definitely important. if a heartfelt darn it gets uttered, so what?

Yeah, it's a matter of preference. I think you can be colorful, while not over the top. We all like different things. Obviously Vic has his fans and he has people that aren't. I'm sure he'll be fine either way.

I've wanted to stay off this thread, I appreciate certain people here and they know who they are.

I read this though... I am just stunned that you or anyone would respond like this to any person here.

I'm not lecturing you, judging you, I don't want to fight with you. I can't even explain why I find it embarrassing that anyone would say something like this.

I know you can be very witty... sometimes I wonder if you just get caught up in things.

This was a terrible thing to say. If no one else is going to point that out to you I will.

I hope no one is ever this mean to you or anyone you know, respect, like, love, etc. There is no reason for it. You've repeatedly made your point... I can't believe you would laugh at someone who is being so honest about being hurt.

Since it is not a flattering piece, why must there be some agenda, a friendship elsewhere, or a slow news week?

If it were a flattering piece and someone posted here that there must be some ulterior motive behind publishing it, that poster would get hammered.
I'm just curious...why is it that you seem to jump in every Vic Stauffer thread on every forum and bash him?
