as for what i'd do if i had a horse that everyone wanted to pester...i'd probably arrange for days people could see her at the farm, since many farms don't showcase the mares. keeping her racing a bit longer would have been an acceptable move-she hadn't shown any sign of losing her ability when they chose to send her to ky.
I think it's an easy, inexpensive way for fans to keep up with their favorite horses. Visitation days are great, but not everyone can afford to travel out to visit a farm, especially one that's across the country from them. And definitely takes less effort from a horse's connections than having to answer a lot of emails individually.

Though I just popped over to FB to see the page and it mainly seems to be a vehicle to drive traffic to the Zenyatta website.

Tiznow and his connections should get this honor instead. I think a celebration/commemoration of the 10-year anniversary of Tiznow's second triumph is more fitting for THIS Breeders' Cup, especially since he won his first Classic at Churchill Downs. Add the fact he has a contender in this year's Classic that will likely be around 6 or 7-1 (Tiznow's '01 BCC odds), it's the clear perfect fit. WinStar certainly went for it.

Sure, Tiznow may be known by fewer fans and disciples than Zenyatta, but a couple doses of "Tiznow tough as nails....heart-pounding, pulsating stretch drive" will catch everybody's attention. He'll rival Zenyatta's lure for sure when everybody's skin tingles during "the daunting presence of a Horse of the Year" and "Tiznow is battling on" through to "Tiznow wins it for America!!" Sure, my skin reacts to Zenyatta's wins too - it crawls. It's not her fault; I blame Denman for that.

Considering how they've destroyed the event the past few years, I'm not surprised they are missing this unique opportunity. They just continue to grasp at Zenyatta's tail. This isn't stupid, but it's not the right time for it. I simply believe it's better to celebrate Zenyatta's Breeders' Cup legacy at the place she actually won her races. They wouldn't have to wait long as Santa Anita hosts in 2012. As for this being an annual event...pipe dream. Belmont attendees will destroy the booth when they finally get the Cup back.

Well, I'm going to start internalizing and consider it a massive 'diss from the BC. I shall start a Facebook page featuring the comments and responses of a bitter Tiznow who considers Zenyatta a naughty B-word and depressive episodes stemming from not getting a a chance to 3-peat to not knowing his father on a deeper level.

You are underestimating the star power of Zenyatta. I don't recall Tiznow ever dancing in the paddock before his races.

i don't recall anyone having to campaign for tiznow to get the recognition he deserved either. he earned his kudos on the track, not by press release.

No campaign for Tiznow was necessary since he never lost a Breeders Cup Classic.

Zenyatta?? Was she that real good race horse who didn't run in open company enough and finished 1st and 2nd in two BC Classics? Within 10 years only the die hards will remember her. Is anyone still talking about used car salesman or lemonade stands any more? I remember that caused a lot of angst as well back in the day. I find it beyond humorous anyone at all is bothered by any of this. Any attention at all is still attention to horse racing. Whether anyone liked her or not, she was still really good. It was not her that requested the installation of synthetic surfaces. BAck to the sniping and regularly scheduled programming.
