Here is what I know. I do alot of betting, and I bet alot of tracks, I have been doing it since I have been 14 years old (14 years). I haven't ONCE been able to past post. I would love the opportunity to be able to do though, I am great at picking the winner on the turn.
Yes, and you weren't once able to bet the P6 after 4 races were run either I would imagine.

I don't know if it is rampant. Phil provided some statistical data I've seen other places as well that are certainly worth investigating. The problem is, the tracks have no incentive to investigate. It would probably be very bad if they did and found out past posting was going on.

It doesn't change that there shouldn't be any chance for this to happen. There is more than enough technology available to prevent this from EVER happening. Why is this mechanical in the first place? That is ridiculous.

I agree with you 100%, at the most, there should be a 5 second delay from bet to tote, there are plenty of pipes out there for the information to get to.

I almost think this is more about late odd changes then past posting, and late odd changes drive EVERYONE nuts.

But honestly, when can the bettor do? Stop betting? maybe, but nothing will change until someone involved in the industry gets f'd out of a bunch of money that they just bet. Way of the world, react when too late

Also, this is a questionable excuse, given that they HACKED into the system to bet that pick six

Default I've met Cannon.....

and if you had you would not fire at will from the comfort of your keyboard fox hole.....

There are a huge number of people playing these races, whales and minnows... if there was a systematic pattern, unless all the whales are part of a conspiracy, someone would blow the whistle... **** happens, people are fallible, they space out, the button is full of mustard and sticks... who knows

Just my bet from the 1/4 pole

There are many here that know me personally. I would hardly say I'm firing from a foxhole as some anonymous poster.

Huh? What does that even mean? I think most people would think if past posting is being done, it is being done via hacking.

Don't you find the fact that they have no idea how much was bet off track after the bell a little scary?

I thought you were talking about the P6 scandal at Arlington

Yes, in this day in age of tracking and software, it should be instant. But given that there is no governing body of horse racing, nothing will change until someone gets screwed over

Yep, the whole business is a mess, no doubt.

Are you a Saluki grad? My wife, the much smarter half of our union, is a graduate.

My point was it's happeneing A LOT and your response of "get over it" when this was first discussed was s hitty IMO and a lot of other bettors agreed. I believe even a few mentioned it then.

I realize you bet yourself and understand our gripes and I'm not trying to play the without me, there is no you game. But it would have been nice for you to admit it happens more than you originally thought and maybe understood why that comment rubbed people the wrong way. Maybe we'll just agree to disagree about this.
When you quote me I find it hard to believe that it wasn't directed at me. What difference does it make to you if I say "get over it" especially when directed to a person not even on the board? Am I now the voice of Backside USA? My first post on this thread was "I was wrong". Did you miss that?

the race odds changing at the1/4 pole is normal as the late betting gets put in the pool after its started ..its not a regular practice.. but this post betting is a rareity.. im more worried about jockys who dont ride all the way......

For whatever it's worth, the only first hand experience I have had with past posting was a little over 10 years ago, at an OTB in Suffern. While betting Yonkers we had been made aware by a fairly big bettor that the windows were staying open at least 15 to 20 seconds after the car opened the gates... we would simply box the horses who went for the lead, a huge adavantage at Yonkers back then, and also one that would not show up on the odds board (and when I write "we", I mean they, as I was anything but a big bettor). So I have seen it firsthand, although it was a long time ago, and it was Harness.
But this experience does lead me to believe it CAN still be happening, at any time, at any race track around the country. And we, the betting public, don't have any information on the special access that certain "whales" get into the betting pools. NO ONE, no matter how much they bet, should have any special advantages.

Mid 90s (1997?), did it as an adult weekends and nights. Masters from OU...she is still with me though, so maybe she isn't as bright as I thought.

How do you know?

I've got waffles to make, beer to brew, and have to coach a few female tennis players in the morning, so I'm off to bed.
