Default 7 days until they drop the bomb at GP

While the world at large frets over NY's inability to deal with something everybody else figured out a decade ago, and still missing the Met Mile on Memorial Day, at least we horseplayers have something to look forward to: barring a kick in the guts on Saturday or Sunday, we are going to have the mother****ingest mandatory payout of all time on Memorial Day at GP. Last year one of our number took down a share ($5500?) on a ticket that cost like $56. Of course that was based on a $.10 increment, and this year it is $.20--which probably means the pool will be driven upwards even more than it might have been under the former structure.

Thank you, GP, for this wonderful distraction.

This was brilliantly done by Gulfstream. They're going to draw both Sunday and Monday and pick the best 6 races between the two days to put in the sequence. They're also incentivizing horseman by given trainers an additional $500 to start. With the door being wide open on Memorial Day, they made a great decision.

I know I'll be involved. Any horseplayer absolutely has to be.

Thanks for the headsup on this. will be much harder now for the small player though. Obviously.

I'll be taking it easy this week specifically so I can unload on Monday and try to make five figures. It's the best betting opportunity I can remember since I started playing the horses.

Mike Welsch had a similar take on ATR regarding the edge given those with deep pockets vs the little guys in having 6 - 12 horae fields. Sure you get much more coverage @ 20 cents wager, BUT, whats the difference vs a normal $2 p6 with a normal card where you can eke out a single or two to lean on with smaller fields. I know the big $$$ of $10-20 mil ia greatly enticing, but i am having conflicting feelings about participating.

Year after year you work to beat a 15% plus takeout and then you want to hesitate betting a sequence with an overall positive expectation?

I won't bet more than I can comfortably lose but I don't understand how anyone can think this isn't worth their best effort.

Best in the context of a Pick 6 is generally (in my opinion) the ones with the largest fields, but I understand your point.

Doesn't simply utilizing the six races with the largest, most inscrutable fields work to the benefit of the whales - most likely the type of people who have not been playing the wager all along?
