That was the same figure I projected for Ruffian in her debut - albeit that one coming as a 2yo.

I would have expected the 110-to-113 range for MM.

With six dirt sprints - and it coming near the middle of the card - you know it's a solid number.

Really, really fast debut, but anyone else think they kicked it up a couple of points when the buzz started everyone scrambling to find the highest debut at 112?

Number makes a lot of sense in context with the 1st and 2nd races- which it was 26 and 40 points faster than, respectively- and the winners of those races were 85-90 and 75-78 type animals. I was in the sportsbook and was only casually watching and thought it was the stakes race.

Forest Music's debut was freakish, too. Went 1:08.53 at Laurel, which is basically unheard of at any level there.

Is this one of the fastest maiden figs ever recorded?

I'm new to the game so please forgive me if this question is stupid...

I just have never heard of a figure that high for a maiden and am honestly curious...

It's the fastest since the Beyers have been published. Read more in the initial thread about him and debuts that Doug started: http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41473
