Pfft they are the biggest narcissists in the game. It's 1/9 they run in the ZENYATTA.

Don't hold your breath about the Beldame...

Quote:
One possibility for October is the $350,000 Beldame Stakes at Belmont Park on Oct. 2, or the $250,000 Zenyatta Breeders’ Cup Stakes at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting the same day. The Zenyatta Stakes was formerly known as the Lady’s Secret Stakes until the race was renamed last year following Zenyatta’s win in the BC Classic and retirement. Jerry and Ann Moss reversed that decision in January, giving Zenyatta another season of racing. Zenyatta has won three Grade 1 races this year.
Asked if the Hirsch could be Zenyatta’s farewell start in California, Shirreffs said, “It could be.”
Shirreffs has expressed reservations about running Zenyatta at Del Mar, but has arranged her training in recent weeks to prepare for Saturday’s race.

No?

I think they are certainly going to NY for the Beldame!

But, who will be left to prevent a bad allowance horse from winning the Grade 1 Zenyatta Stakes?

I'm not sure what to think about a horse possibly winning a race named after herself.

in a truely ironic fashion, Zenyatta's first loss will come in the Zenyatta Stakes.

I mentioned this was a possibility many months ago, the Beldame was appealing because it is a weight for age race that would bridge them perfectly with the BC Classic. It made more sense than going to Saratoga in late summer, travel back to California to prep for the classic at SA, and then back east to KY. The advantage here is one ship, 2 races win/lose call it a career.

Why do people from California think that Kentucky and New York are like right next to each other? Folks do realize that Louisville is like a 12 hour drive from New York and a 1:30 flight, right?

And Arkansas isn't on the East coast, either.

Probably because it's a 12 hour drive from SA to HP.
