Most people probably don't remember - but Artie Schiller was actually the favorite in the Mile the year before he won it.

I liked him a lot - but he would be a huge stretch.

Miesque was hands down the best. She dominated over here twice and when you look at the list of horses she beat while winning some of Europe's best races, there should be no doubt that she was the best. Lure was outstanding in his victories as well as was Spinning World but they were just a cut below Miesque. I would have liked to have seen Ridgwood Pearl on the list. Never off the board in eight starts, six wins, four grade ones. Took the Moulin, Coronation Stakes, and the Irish 1000 Guineas in addition to her easy win in the Mile.
