Default English Channel Vs. Cacique

Congrats to Kev on his win. Great job as he was wide the whole way and ran on. Kudos.

Yeah it was a great effort by EC. I thought he was in big trouble when he was fighting Johnny V donw the frontstretch. Cacique dropped like a rock...

I was ultra impressed with EC... rank as can be, but still managed to run on.

I knew Lawyer Ron was done when I saw him come out of the gate... the draw reins might help while training, but he doesn't have em on while he's racing.

EC has been rank early on in many of his races. I knew when he drew the 10 post he was gonna be screwed...he likes to be near the pace and have a target...but 3-4 wide for 3 turns if awfully tough to overcome.

cacique was the biggest dissappointment of the day for me.....this horse always seems to be game and in the mix. just didnt fire today. unless there was something wrong he showed nothing.

If you give it to the BEST turf horse to run in North America then OB probably fits the bill. Not so sure that we should be giving championships to horses with 1 start but I guess the voting rules are vague if they even have any rules.

He didn't figure to stretch out to 12f with top horses. There is plenty of evidence from his sibings and half-siblings - Dansili, Banks Hill, Heat Haze, Intercontinental - that this bloodline prefers 8-10f. Cacique was already overachieving to win at 11f. When matched with top horses who genuninely stay 12f he was found out.

spot on, only way he gets near the leaders if they crawled early on.. After seeing the first few fractions, I knew Frankie was in the perfect position!

What about the Tin man if he wins his next start? hes undefeated and has beaten EC soundly in their only matchup. Great sentimental story as well that voters often like.

That is my vote if he can win his next start. Normally I'd vote against a horse that skipped the BC but considering there is nothing between 8 and 12 furlongs on the turf there was really nowhere to run him so I can't fault them for skipping it.

I forgot about the Tin Man, and I love that old horse. It's really hard though to not like Miesque's Approval, he won at different distances, in top company and showed up to take on everyone on the Championship Day, and what a story! I would still give him the nod over Tin Man.

I am still upset that I tossed Miesque's Approval.

Its funny you say that , Dick said something about the same thing the other day, he said if it does happen when he gets up to accept he is going to say "blah blah and Mr. Todd has given me all of the breeding rights " . LOL
