![]() I have never seen anything like this. In the first race, the 1 - Rexon's Halo's last ten comment lines read (newest race first, like The Form prints them):
Refused to break (He was the $.90 chalk in this one!!) Dwelt badly start Hesitated start Hesitated start Dwelt start Dwelt start Dwelt start Dwelt start No factor Hesitated start Obviously, this horse is still a maiden. Pretty incredible. I would love to hear trainer/owner, Barry Rose's story behind what he has tried to do with this one in the morning to get him to break better. I would think everything short of eye of newt. |

![]() I'm glad you saw this - was going to post the same thing
dwell (dwl) intr.v. dwelt (dwlt) or dwelled, dwell·ing, dwells 1. To live as a resident; reside. lol |

Apparently, he didn't dwell or hesitate, BUT he still broke last in that race. |

... is a little more like it. How he could have been considered "no factor" is pretty dubious. He wasn't getting to the first two but ran down the rest of them in the stretch... |

![]() Still to date the funniest thing Ive ever saw at the start of a race is when Ma's Meatballs broke from the #1 post; He walked out of the gate and right around to the back of the gate.
![]() Worth watching if anyone has a race replays acct. Search Ma's Meatballs. Im pretty sure it was his last race at TWP. |

Outrun (broke last) Off slowly Showed little (broke 8th out of 9) Checked 1st turn (broke last) Bumped early (broke last) Bumped st, outrun (broke 8th out of 10) Slow start Could be that this guy just HATES the gate. Reminds me of a horse I saw run in Ireland at the Laytown meeting last year. Racing at Laytown is a one day meeting on the beach about 40 miles north of Dublin. Trainer brings a horse over from England with horrible form. Of course, the horse "won for fun" at 5-1. Next day, I read in the paper where the trainer states that he specifically brought the over to run at Laytown because all the races were started with a "tape start" (no starting gate) and that the horse hated the starting gate (nothing like inside info). Maybe they ought to give this guy a chance on the jumps circuit. He's a 3 yr old that still has lots of time to develop. He's shown a bit of form in the last 2 races that he completed. After Wednesday, he will be eligible for a Starter Allowance-type race for Florida-breds, 1 1/4 mile, at the Little Everglades Steeplechase meet on March 8th (provided they write that race again this year). It would be interesting to see how he would do racing from a flag start. |

![]() This is still an awfully bad bunch of coconuts - he could easily spot them 5 lengths on the break and close...That the trouble - you have to take a short price and get lucky or play against and hope he can't overcome the start. Not for my money - I'm going to be watching this one...

Last year was my first visit to Little Everglades. I've been to all but a handful of the "jumps" venues and this by far is one of the best. Fantastic grass course, tragic that it is only used once a year for racing. Had the chance to meet and chat with Bob and Sharon Blanchard. They put on a great day of racing. Too bad, they and the NSA can't get on the same page and it looks like it will be a non-sanctioned meet again this year. I plan to attend again this year. Will you be there? |

![]() There was a horse like this at Emerald this summer named Soap Lake. every start he would miss and then come flying. The problem was people kept betting him in anticipation that he would have a good start and it just didnt happen.
