He's looking at a past performance and tape -- and his conclusions are basically opinions based on observations and the way he writes them out makes him look like a BS artist.

Horse racing video games have been addressing this subject for a great many years now...

They look like this: (lower half of screen)

Very interesting. He seems a good and accurate detail observer of horse behavior. His comments match what some of the trainers have said.

It is and it isn't.

Knowing all the traits, intangibles, and habits of a race horse is an edge and can be accomplished with a little work when it's worth all the effort ... but this is dressing it up (dare I say gaying it up) way too much.

Read what his profile of Trinninberg says.

It's very obviously written by someone who knows the horse is a sprinter and has no hope of getting 10F Saturday.

His psychology on the horse is moronic.

Does Triiniberg have any hope of getting the 10 on Saturday...I dont think someone saying he can't is stating anything "moronic"

Sigh.

I'm not disputing Trinnibergs inability to get 10f.

I'm saying that it's so freaking obvious he is not going to get 10, and this expert just made up a line of crap to explain that in psychological terms. Clearly, and I do mean clearly, that horse has physcial limitations that will prevent him from winning.

Using his line of reasoning, Spend A Buck would have had no hope. Had he been doing this in the 80's, I promise you he'd have written up something similar with Groovy, but not Spend A Buck.

It's transparent.

Like I initially said...We gotta wait till after the race to see how close or how screwy this guy is to how these 20 horses run and play off each other...You gotta admit it's a different little change of pace to read this kinda stuff to take a break of having workout splits and Graded Earnings and Trainer psycho-babbble and Pedigree charts spinning round in your head.

Maybe someone should do a book on Derby Trainer Psychology....what they say vs what they mean.....that'd be a BIG book!

Thank you for restoring a tiny bit of faith in me that the entire human race is incapable of understanding the simplest concept.

The book would be either impossibly large, or about three sentences long, depending on your level of cynicism.

The analysis of Bodemeister made me think of Jane Smiley's description of the fictional colt Limitless in Horse Heaven.

Wow, I just read the profile for Bodemeister based on your post.

That pretty much confirms this guy is full of crap. How can differentiate between Bodemeister and Trinniberg based on their running styles and desire to be on the lead?

What a conman.

Dude, he likes the favorites.

Shocking.

How can he assign such radically different assessments to Bodemeister and Trinniberg when they have the same running style?

Why can Bode win but not Trinniberg, from a psychological handicapping angle?

I'll tell you why. It's because everyone knows Trinniberg is not going to win and it's safe to throw him out.
