Another interesting article about USC...Looks like Carroll knew when to get out because his house of cards was about to crumble.

he already has the ncaa sniffing around ut. he's already had at least a dozen violations. usc deserves this clown. would be great to see the ncaa hammer sc, with kiffin there.

Carroll.............Kiffen has enough talent there. His dad will run the D so he just has to stay out of the way.

and shot his mouth off with only harbaugh to give it back to him. he'd eventually got his head handed to him in the SEC.

I think the Kiffins going to SC is the better of the two transactions. They are exactly the right people for what is about to happen there, believe that.Pete could have a tough time in Seattle.

Carroll is an excellent coach that did a great job at USC. You guys are all silly and uninformed if you think the same things that went on at USC don't go on at Bama and Tennessee or any other major program.

He got out just ahead of the posse...God bless him. Its not like he didnt have success as a coodinator on the NFL level. Why is everyone so sure he won't be successful now?

Norm Chow is coaching the offense and Daddy is coaching the defense at So Cal. All Lane has to do is recruit. Why won't he have success?

why won't he have success? first off, he's still a relative unknown regarding head coaching ability. he's got just over 30 games under his belt running the show, so the jury's still out-unless you go by w/l record. he's 12 and 21 between oakland and tennessee. then you factor in that usc has had a less than stellar year this year after losing many assistants-and now they'll start from scratch with their players. you also have some other pac-10 teams that are much stronger than they had been lately. add in any punishments soon to be handed down-not exactly shaping up to be a good recruiting year for usc with carroll leaving, potential loss of scholarships, etc. i'd also think that not everyone goes for the in-your-face type of attitude kiffin has-and he wasn't exactly well liked there as an assistant.

i'd think carroll has a better shot had doing well the next few years than kiffin.

Oh dont get me wrong. He comes across as a little jerk to me. But at the same time, how much coaching will he have to do?

His dad is one of the best defensive minds in the history of the game that developed a defense that is used in some fashion by a majority of teams in the NFL. Norm Chow's resume speaks for itself.

What does he really have to do? Recruit and be the CEO. Sure there is more to it than that but he has a great staff around him and he has rich boosters and one of the most storied programs in NCAA history. He will have every opportunity to succeed is all I am saying.

More importantly, O/U of how many years USC will be on probation, 3.5 years, and add another 4 when Lane is done there.

I don't think he is and I don't think he is going to be far off. From what I have heard/read, USC basically has done nothing to lessen the impending blow. Most other schools do their own investigating and punish themselves (scholarships, bowls, etc...). They do that in hopes that the NCAA will take that into account when doling out the punishment and it usually helps. USC has done nothing about their violations, but pretend they don't exist.

If they were going to get 1 year probation from postseason play and lose some scholarships for 3 years, Petey would still be there. He knows what is coming and got the hell out.

The NCAA is going to come down hard on them.

Where is the Booth Operator?

I can't wait for his spin on how the Kiffins are going to take his beloved Trojans to the promised land.

there is what you don't understand. Bama lost schollies for 3 yrs. and 2 bowl games. it took almost 4 yrs to get the program back up to Full strength.
CNS had a lot of bad apples that first (2007) year and he had NO choice but to play them because the team was short of bodies. 2008 season was the first back at full number of bodies and he still had enough bad apples that they helped take the team down in the last 2 games.
so it could be 5-7 years total.
