Sunshine Millions and Magna 5 season opener has become something of an unofficial kick-off to the deepest part of the winter racing calendar. With a 10 week run that happily distracts players from the cold and dank, the "5" campaign marches us all into the heart of the Derby Trail and Triple Crown. From there, you look up and Saratoga, Del Mar and Breeders' Cup have suddenly come and gone! I initially wasn't sure if the new $1 minimum on the Magna 5 was the right call, but acclimation by players and a brutally tough opening week made me get in step with the wagering masses.
