From time to time we bemoan the fact that a particular high level stakes race has only drawn a small number of entries. The linked article tries to address this issue with a number of possible explanations and a focus on the current Saratoga meeting. I thought that it was a worthwhile read. Some of the possible reasons are thought provoking.
The comment that I took most to heart came from Christophe Clement - that just because a race has a short field doesn't mean that it is a bad field.
