Per Jay Privman in today's DRF,

"As for Gourmet Dinner, he has not worked since finishing second in the Holy Bull Stakes on Feb. 26, and this past weekend, he was taken off the grounds of Gulfstream Park, bound for a farm in Ocala, Fla.

Neither his owner, Bill Terrill, nor his trainer, Steve Standridge, have returned phone messages left for them both Monday and Tuesday."

You can currently give 39/1 against Brethren winning the KY Derby on the exchanges right now.

Which means some dope out there actually wants him for $80 at that price.

Looks like you may need 250k to get in safely this year.
I think a 2-3 year ago 150k was enough.

The Derby Draw will be on May 4th from 5-6 pm ET on VERSUS (or whatever NBC calls it by then). The pill-pull will be conducted live during that hour.

Soldat's Kentucky Derby work encourages McLaughlin
By Mike Welsch

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Fountain of Youth winner Soldat gave every indication he’s bounced out of his disappointing performance in the Grade 1 Florida Derby in good order after zipping five furlongs in 59.07 seconds under absolutely perfect conditions early Thursday morning at Palm Meadows.

Breaking off at the half-mile pole, Soldat went his opening quarter-mile in 24.01. He changed leads perfectly while hugging the rail into the stretch then accelerated down the lane, covering his next quarter in 23.27 to hit the finish line in 47.28 while under just slight encouragement nearing the wire . Soldat then continued on very strongly around the turn to the mile pole in what was little more than a gallop-out before pulling up six furlongs in 1:12.76 and seven-eighths in 1:27.82.

Did he get any dirt thrown back at his face during this work? Because he sure didn't fire being behind horses.
