Really? I enjoy his racecalls. But then, I don't have an issue with any racecallers. Any that I've heard do a better job at it than I could. Yes, even Battaglia.

It's no secret that I truly enjoy Mr. Stauffer's calls. He uses his talents to call a less than hotly popular sport and make it understanding and entertaining. I must say I perfer it over "do re me fa sol la ti do" Mr. Durkin's colorful calls.

All publicity is good publicity, right Vic? There is no reaction to anything Wrona does, here or anywhere else.

The blogger obviously has an axe to grind with Stauffer or an agenda for promoting Wrona.

I don't watch enough GG to even formulate an opinion about Wrona, other than I'm just about completely over the whole "Aussie-accent thing" in American race calling.

I happen to agree that the author's criticism of Vic saying "darn it" is pretty ridiculous. However, a lot of his other criticisms are things people have mentioned for years.

As for why Vic posted it (here, and every other horse racing message board around), who knows. But it certainly seems like Vic likes the attention this gets him. He's not alone there, we all like attention, but I don't think for one second he was trying to laugh at himself. He posted it because he knew it would draw out his supporters to tell him how great he is.

Mission accomplished.

You're probably right. But there are two sides to every story. Who knows what, if any history there is between these guys or what else happened.

Im not trying to start anything with you here, just want to get that out first. I think your being a bit harsh though. She did not really jump to his defense. She was pretty clear saying hes not my favorite but this is over the top. I actually agree 100%. Im not a huge fan of his, but I don't dislike him for any of his calls. The call in question I don't think was that bad either. He sounds sincere to me. I know darn it is not really the best thing he could have said, but he said it. I don't think its a big deal at all. It feels to me like there is an agenda, something else is going on between the writer and Vic, but who knows. I mean to write that type of an article because of that call seems way over the top to me. As for the other race caller mentioned in the article, from listening to both of them I think Vic is better. I also think Vic is better then Trevor D. He looks like he just jumped in at the quarter pole is getting so played out, I think most people would admit that.

The comment about him making this thread to get his supporters to come out is way over the top. Plus theres only 1 example and she did not exactly go tooth and nail to defend him. Its not like 50 people jumped on and said the article is bad and Vic is a god or anything like that.

Ahhhhh right, that's the ticket:

Psychophants: One who attempts to garner favour by flattering influential people, but does so to a psychotic, often violent degree

So Vic is influential after all and we're all getting crazy over here, even violent.

You should see the secret handshake we have at the cavalry. It's pretty sweet.

Default For those that thought "darn it" was inappropriate....

Parx, Race 2, 12-26-11, the track announcer just shoehorned this gem into his call:

"This race raises the question, will Jeff Fisher or Bill Cowher be the coach of the San Diego Chargers next year?"

Isn't that Lederman at Parx? I'm watching TVG today, and I'm impressed by the gal calling the races at Woodbine Harness. Pleasant voice with just a touch of a Canadian twang.

No clue, but his cuteness with that comment was lost on me. I haven't watched any more from Parx today, maybe he's trying to be funny in every race and I'm missing the joke?
