I have been there on Bluegrass Stakes Day with 27k and it was a madhouse. I realize that Keeneland will exhaust every resource to accommodate a larger crowd, but I'm going to stay home and watch this first one they will host. Hope all goes well and it is the first of many....

I do not see how they could possibly come close to accommodating 60,000 or more.

Unfortunately, I think they'll have to limit tickets, it's the only solution I see. If they put temporary seats on the apron, and beyond the Clubhouse, I don't think they should sell any General Admission. The other thing is I hope it doesn't rain. Most of the parking around Keeneland are grassy areas and a few years ago it rained a solid week, and it was tough to find parking. I think this could be a great event (more for TV than in person), so it'll be interesting.

October 30 & 31 are the Friday and Saturday dates in '15.

I stated this as being the dates for Friday and Saturday, not the official days for the BC. Personally, I would think they fit good right here. Make it the last weekend of the Keeneland fall meet, then CD picks up the following Thursday. Would make sense for all involved.

Still waiting for Parx to get a Breeders' Cup.

Kidding of course - won't happen. I would go though if it did.

They'd take the races off the turf if there was a threat of rain or cancel races if it is "too cold"

Now that the Cup weekend will be at Keeneland, that criticism cannot be used again.
Not being a smart ass here... my favorite BC was at Belmont and I am sad every year when it's announced it won't be there again... but I'm curious as to what other criticisms there were as I thought the only one was (for some people with no spine) it's too cold.

I think Steve has said that Breeders' Cup day is not usually a money maker for the track, so NYRA may not want the hassle. As a fan, and NY local, I also am disappointed it's not been here in a decade.

I went in 2005 and it was a great day. I didn't think it was cold, but I'm one of those who spends the day walking from the paddock to the window to the track, (repeat 12 times), so I was moving around which keeps you warm. The best part, though, was going out to the track early on Friday, to watch the last gallops and paddock schooling. Every time a horse came out with a purple BC saddle cloth, everyone would start whispering ("Who's that? Who's that?"). It was fun.

This is how I spend my day as well. I hate seats and Belmont is such a great place if you enjoy walking about and being on the apron and paddock. I enjoyed the BC at Churchill, but my one strong criticism of the experience is that they don't open the track in the mornings for the week prior to the event. I haven't been to Santa Anita, but being able to watch the works every morning at Clockers' Corner sounds really grand.

I heard/read somewhere that NYRA no longer tries for the BC due partly to the date now coinciding with the NYC Marathon.

Well then it's clear to me that the NY Marathon needs to pick a different Sunday. Having attended both, the Breeders Cup is much more entertaining.

Is Repole still crying in his Vitamin Water about no BC?

Let's see. He already has the best race meet of the year in Saratoga. Now Super Belmont Day looks like it has made its mark. Give it a rest.

The 50-degree day was comfortable enough, I thought, with abundant sunshine.

The last time was cold, no doubt.
Thank you for that.

I was more asking what the other criticisms were because of your wording...
