Belshazzar wins...
Replay, notes, etc: http://web-cache.stream.ne.jp/web/jr...305090211&ua=4 Rearing in the gate before the start, American raider Pants On Fire partnered with Gary Stevens traveled second from last instead of his usual position towards the front. The son of Jump Start (USA, by A.P. Indy) was already losing ground rounding the last corners and showed no effort in the stretch to finish last. Kelly Breen: “He did everything right going into the race. He had a great workout. He was relaxed and I think he took to the whole trip very good. The (length of) time on the track, the time being saddled, the whole procedure for racing compared to America… he just handled it like a professional. It just wasn’t our day.” Gary Stevens: “He reared in the gate to start and ended up nosebleeding, so I couldn’t push him any further. There’s nothing to say but that we were unlucky.” |

What a shame.
Eishin Flash cancelled to run in 2013 Arima Kinen (The Grand Prix) Eishin Flash (6-y-o horse, trained by Hideaki Fujiwara), cancelled to run in the 2013 Arima Kinen (The Grand Prix) (G1), scheduled for Nakayama Racecourse on December 22, 2013. Trainer Hideaki Fujiwara comment: "We were getting him ready for the Arima Kinen but this morning we noticed something irregular with his gait. As a result of a thorough examination and what appears to be a sprain in the fetlock area of in his right foreleg, (Eishin Flash) is to be pulled from the Arima Kinen and retired. Just thinking of it makes my heart heavy. He has given us his everything all along and it must have been tough on him. I have only feelings of gratitude for what he has given us. And, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who were a part of his life, the stable staff, the breeders and those involved in raising and training him, as well as his departed (former) owner Toyomitsu Hirai." |
