Joyful Victory retired, to sell at Fasig-Tipton

Grade 1 winner Joyful Victory has been retired from racing and will be offered at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky selected fall mixed sale in November.

The 5-year-old Tapit mare made her final start on Saturday in the Grade 1 Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita, in which she finished third behind Beholder and Authenticity. Joyful Victory retires with seven wins from 20 starts, including four wins in graded stakes company, for earnings of $1,252,679.

Is she not BC eligible? Did she get hurt in the race? I love these retirements where the comments are "they've done enough". At least give us a reasonable reason.

She quit because she didn't like rating off the lead while letting her rival, Beholder, get free and clear with a soft pace.

Agreed.............more money to be made in sales ring in November than by taking a chance and getting drilled in the BC. Should be a nicely productive mare though.

I didn't get this one either. I thought the whole point of Joyful Victory's light campaign this year was to have her fresh for the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita, over a track that they claimed she loved.

I forget who it was on Twitter but they were supremely high on Joyful Victory's works leading up to her race this weekend.
